What do expert pool cleaners know that the rest of us don’t? How do they clean their pools?
We polled some of our experts at our pool company near Villanova, PA about the best tips and tricks out there – especially the ones that most people don’t know about. The results are pretty interesting – some of these tricks cost almost nothing, and can help you get the sparkling clean pool you want for less time and money.
These are the top 3 pool cleaning tips from our experts:
1. Do More Maintenance
Okay, you already know you need to keep your pool pH balanced and run the filter at least once daily, right? You need to check all the boxes to keep your pool clean, but experts tend to go above and beyond with their pools.
For example, you can run your pool filter twice a day rather than just once, and you can invest in a dynamic pH sensor for your pool rather than using test strips.
People use their pools more than ever, especially since more people are working from home. In many cases, pool cleaning guidelines are for “occasional use” and underestimate the amount of sweat, grime, and sunblock that will end up in the pool.
If you do more maintenance than recommended, your pool won’t get as dirty and you won’t need to do the same kind of intensive cleaning as often.
2. Clean Your Pool Tiles
You can keep the grout between pool tiles sparkling and clean using a scrub brush. The same technique works for ladder fittings, drains, and lights.
Looking for help keeping the tiles bright? Consult with an expert on what is causing the discoloration and what safe products can be used in and around your pool.
3. Use a Tennis Ball to Absorb Oils
Tennis balls can be fun to toss back and forth in a pool, but they can also serve a double purpose by absorbing oils on the surface of the water.
It’s the wool and nylon that they are made of. Oils get stuck on the tennis ball, which acts like a tiny pool cleaner.
