Authorized PebbleTec® Installer
Scott Payne Custom Pools is an authorized installer of genuine PebbleTec® finishes — serving southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey since 2014.
Why PebbleTec®?
In 1987, Pebble Technology International changed the pool industry forever when they introduced the original aggregate pool finish. Before PebbleTec, pool interiors were coated in standard white plaster — a material that stains, discolors, and degrades within five to seven years. PebbleTec replaced that with something fundamentally different: a surface made from carefully sourced natural pebbles, fade-resistant pigments, and proprietary strengthening agents that bond to the shell and last for decades.
The result is a pool that looks better, feels better, and holds its color longer than anything else on the market. The natural pebble texture is gentle on feet and hands. The aggregate composition is inherently non-slip. And because the color comes from the stones themselves — not a surface coating — it cannot fade, peel, or wash away.
In the years since, countless imitators have tried to replicate PebbleTec. None have succeeded. There is only one genuine PebbleTec, and it is made exclusively by Pebble Technology International. When you build with Scott Payne Custom Pools, you get the real thing — installed by a team that has been doing this for over 25 years.
🪨
Natural Aggregate
Real pebbles sourced from natural deposits — not synthetic coatings. The color lives in the stone itself and cannot fade or peel.
⏳
Decades of Durability
Standard plaster lasts 5–7 years. PebbleTec finishes are engineered to last 20+ years with proper care — a meaningful long-term investment.
🦶
Comfortable & Non-Slip
The natural pebble texture is gentle on bare feet, inherently non-slip, and comfortable to stand on — even in shallow areas.
🎨
Stunning Water Color
The finish you choose determines the color of your water. From deep Caribbean blues to soft whites and dramatic blacks — the palette is extraordinary.
🛡️
Industry-Leading Warranty
As authorized installers, our clients receive PebbleTec's full warranty program — covering both product and workmanship for complete peace of mind.
✅
Authorized Installation
Not every pool builder can install genuine PebbleTec. SPCP is an authorized installer — which means proper training, proper materials, and a proper warranty.
The original aggregate finish that started it all. PebbleTec uses the largest pebble profile in the lineup — a bold, natural texture that gives your pool a distinctly organic, earthy character. The larger stones create a visually rich surface with exceptional depth of color and a tactile quality unlike anything else. This is the finish that defined the category.

The result is a surface that feels smooth and luxurious underfoot while offering an exceptional range of water colors — from icy arctic whites to deep ocean blues.

PebbleFina uses the finest, most finely ground natural pebbles in the PebbleTec lineup — delivering a surface that approaches the smoothness of traditional plaster while retaining all the durability and color depth of genuine aggregate. For homeowners who want the performance of PebbleTec with the feel of a more refined surface, PebbleFina is the answer. It is particularly popular in pools with shallow tanning ledges and wading areas where texture matters most.

PebbleBrilliance is the most visually dramatic finish in the lineup. It blends vibrant glass beads with natural stone aggregate to create a surface that catches light in ways no other pool finish can match. The glass beads refract sunlight and underwater lighting to produce a shimmering, jewel-like effect that transforms the appearance of the water. For homeowners who want their pool to be a true showpiece — especially at night — PebbleBrilliance delivers something extraordinary.

A Note on Imitations
Insist on Real PebbleTec®
Not all aggregate finishes are PebbleTec. Many pool builders use generic pebble finishes that look similar but lack the proprietary materials, quality controls, and warranty backing of genuine PebbleTec. When you build with Scott Payne Custom Pools, you receive the real thing — installed by an authorized team, backed by the full PebbleTec warranty program. Ask any builder you're considering whether they are an authorized PebbleTec installer. The answer matters.

Common Questions
PebbleTec® — Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a PebbleTec finish last?
+
PebbleTec finishes are engineered to last 20 years or more with proper care — compared to 5–7 years for standard white plaster. The longevity comes from the natural aggregate composition: because the color lives in the stones themselves rather than a surface coating, it cannot fade, peel, or wash away. Proper water chemistry maintenance is the primary factor in maximizing the life of any pool finish.
Is PebbleTec more expensive than standard plaster?
+
Yes — PebbleTec finishes carry a higher upfront cost than standard white plaster. However, when you factor in the dramatically longer lifespan (20+ years vs. 5–7 years), the reduced chemical consumption, and the elimination of replastering costs, PebbleTec is almost always the better long-term investment. We include PebbleTec in every pool we build because we believe it is the right choice for our clients — not the cheapest one.
Which PebbleTec finish is most popular?
+
PebbleSheen® is the most popular finish in the lineup — both nationally and among our clients. It strikes the ideal balance between the natural texture of the original PebbleTec and a more refined, polished feel. It also offers the widest range of water colors, which gives homeowners the most flexibility in choosing their pool's final appearance. That said, the right finish is ultimately a personal decision — and we're happy to walk through the options with you during the design process.
Does the finish color affect the water color?
+
Absolutely — the finish is the single biggest factor in determining your pool's water color. A darker finish (like Midnight Blue or Black Marble) creates deep, dramatic water with a lagoon-like appearance. A lighter finish (like Arctic White or Sandy Beach) creates bright, sparkling water with a tropical feel. The finish color swatches on this page show both the surface texture and the resulting water color side by side, which is the most useful way to evaluate your options.
Is PebbleTec rough on feet?
+
This is one of the most common questions we hear — and the answer is: it depends on the finish line. PebbleTec Original has the largest pebble profile and the most textured feel. PebbleSheen is noticeably smoother. PebbleFina is the smoothest of all — approaching the feel of traditional plaster. All PebbleTec finishes are designed to be comfortable and non-slip. If smooth texture is a priority, PebbleFina is the right choice.
What warranty comes with PebbleTec?
+
As authorized installers, our clients receive PebbleTec's full warranty program — which covers both the product itself and our installation workmanship. The specific warranty terms vary by product line. This is a meaningful distinction: non-authorized installers cannot offer the PebbleTec product warranty, which means their clients have no recourse if the finish fails prematurely. Our authorized status protects you.
Can PebbleTec be applied to an existing pool during renovation?
+
Yes — PebbleTec finishes can be applied as part of a pool renovation when the existing plaster is removed and the shell is properly prepared. This is one of the most popular renovation upgrades we perform. If you have an older pool with tired, stained plaster and you're considering a renovation, upgrading to PebbleTec is one of the best investments you can make. The pool will look and feel like new — and the finish will last decades.
How do I choose the right finish for my pool?
+
The best way to choose is to look at real pools with the finishes you're considering — not just swatches. The PebbleTec Finish Explorer on pebbletec.com shows pool photos for every color, which gives you a much better sense of the actual water color and appearance. We also walk through finish selection during our design process and can show you examples from pools we've built. The most important factors are: the water color you want, your preference for texture (bold vs. smooth), and whether you want any special visual effects like the shimmer of PebbleBrilliance.
